Our beautiful city will be getting even prettier soon.  The San Diego Business Journal reports today that the California Department of Finance has approved $4.9 million in funding, needed to move forward with development of the $17.7 million Horton Plaza Park project in downtown San Diego on the corner of 4th and Broadway.

Apparently, the approval of funds represents the last hurdle and will allow construction to begin this fall and to wrap up by September of 2015.

The new park will include an amphitheater, interactive water feature, new public restrooms as well as food and retail pavilion.

San Diegans that remember the Broadway Fountain that has sat on that corner for so many years, will be happy to know that the plan includes a restoration of the fountain as well as a plan to have approximately 200 events scheduled in the park each year including concerts, festivals and holiday celebrations.
